James Story Obituary
James Edward Story, 86, of Caldwell, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell, with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Caldwell Masonic Cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of VFW Post #4458 of Caldwell. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 20 and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Story was born February 19, 1922. He retired after many years of service as an electrician for the City of Caldwell. He was a rancher and enjoyed tending his cattle.
During WWII, he served as a sergeant in the US Army and received several decorations and medals, including the Purple Heart. He was a Life Member and past Commander of VFW Post #4458 and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James K. and Jewel Rush Story and two sisters, Dorothy Siebel and Frances Story.
Survivors include his wife of almost 64 years, Doris (Strong) Story; a son and daughter-in-law, James B. and Patricia Story; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Gene Canon, Patsy and Ben Ragnes and Donna and Johnny Williams; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Lillie Mae Story; sister, Bessie Beseda, all of Caldwell; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home of Caldwell is in charge of arrangements.
