Jimmy Day Boedeker, 79, of Caldwell passed away at MD Anderson Cancer Center on Friday, November 3, 2017, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell with Pastor Wayne Calder officiating. Burial will follow at Chriesman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 pm until 8pm on Sunday, November 5 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Jimmy was born on November 19, 1937 in Chriesman, TX to Charles & Beatrice (Kornegay) Boedeker. He attended school in Caldwell and graduated in 1956. He tells a story about boarding the school bus on the first day of first grade and experiencing great sadness at being away from home for the first time. After high school, he attended Blinn College and Texas A&M University. Jimmy worked at his brother Leonard's clothing stores in Brenham and Caldwell. Jimmy had his pilot's license and loved to take friends and family flying. In 1972 and until his retirement in 1989, Jimmy was a State Farm Insurance agent. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time working out-of-doors and singing karaoke at various events around the area.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Leonard & Harold Boedeker, 1 sister Lee Evelyn Doonan, and brothers-in-law Leo Stark & Lyndon Brymer.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, one son James Boedeker and wife Michelle of College Station, three daughters: Melissa Baumgarner and husband Trey of College Station, Crystal Cox of Deanville, and Jennifer Supak and husband Kevin of Caldwell, one step-daughter Robin Riley of Caldwell, 11 grandchildren: Lauren McGuire, Jill Boedeker, Courtney Boedeker, Wesley Boedeker, Bradley Boedeker, Ashley Elsalameen, Alison Gono, Caroline Supak, Olivia Supak, Lynyrd Iliff, and Randi Work, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Wayne Boedeker and wife Maxine of Cleburne, 1 sister Edna Brymer of Caldwell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearers will be Darrell Boedeker, Jason Lyday, Lynyrd Iliff, Adam Dodson, Randy Doonan, Alberto Trujillo, Zach Doonan, and David Doonan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Supak, Wayne Wolz, and the Caldwell High School Classes of 1955 & 1956.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell or the Chriesman Cemetery Association.
