Joann Fiumaro Wimbish

July 4, 1943 - February 5, 2021

Joann Fiumaro Wimbish passed away February 5, 2021 in Bryan Texas. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in the front yard of the Wimbish family home in Bryan. As a precautionary measure face mask or face covering is required to attend the service.

Joann Wimbish was born July 4, 1943 in Darien, CT. Her earlier years living through the cold winters of CT, led her to Indiana State University for college and on to California for warmer weather. It was there she met her soulmate of 51 years, Robert (Bob) Wimbish.

Joann and Bob moved to the Bryan/College Station area so Bob could attend graduate school. Joann's love for children led her to serve as a beloved elementary teacher at several local schools including Bonham, Johnson, Sul Ross, and Crockett. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Bryan, the Wesley Sunday School Class, Brazos County Aggie Mother's Club, Texas Retired Teachers Assn, and served faithfully with Meals on Wheels.

Joann is survived by her husband, Bob Wimbish of Bryan; daughter Pattye Wimbish Knight of Dallas; two grandchildren, Duke Knight and Olivia Knight of Dallas; and sister Adelina Wallace of Bryan; sister-in-law, Peggy Loftis of Waxahachie.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Bryan, Meals on Wheels, and Brazos Valley Breast Cancer Support

I first met Joann at Humpty Dumpty School in the early 70’s. I always inspired to be a teacher like her. She and Nancy Whitlock encouraged me to get into public school and that is where I began a successful career in Kindergarten! I luv teaching young children and am still doing it today. She’s a special lady and an extraordinary person and teacher that I know I will see again.❤

Dear Wimbish Family,
I am so sad to hear about the loss of Joann. She was such a good friend to me and we worked so well together for 5 years at Crockett. We retired from BISD together. Joann was one of the best teachers I ever had the pleasure of knowing and it was always evident as to how much she loved the children and how much she loved her family. I will miss her so very much. God bless you all.

I was shocked to see the obituary. I first met Ms. Wimbish when she taught my son Jason at Crockett. Our paths crossed again as Aggie moms. She was so thoughtful and never failed to ask me how is Jason. She will truly be missed. My condolences to her family.
