Susan Nedbalek Obituary

Susan Hall Nedbalek

April 25, 1949 - May 15, 2022

Susan Hall Nedbalek of College Station, Texas, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 15, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at her sister's house at 825 6th Street in Somerville, Texas on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 12:30 p.m.

Susan was born in Bay City, Texas on April 25, l949 to Margie and K.D. Hall of Sweeny, Texas. She was a polio survivor of the polio epidemic that hit Brazoria County in 1950. However, she never let her minor disability keep her from doing whatever she wanted to do. Susan grew up in Sweeny where she attended school for 12 years. She married John Holloway in 1966 and they moved to Iowa where their son Michael was born. They moved back to Texas and made their way to College Station where their son, Kenneth, was born. In 1974, she entered the nursing program associated with St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas. After graduating second in her class, she went to work for St. Joseph. Susan married Dwayne Nedbalek on June 7, 1985. She took a break from nursing when they moved to Alabama but went back to work when they returned to Texas. Susan worked at various hospitals in the Houston area until her retirement in 2012 when her granddaughter, Veronica Holloway, was born. Throughout her life she was an accomplished artist, of paintings, flower arranging, wreaths, Christmas decorations, and so many other similar crafts. She devoted her life to caring for, not just her patients, but also all the people and pets in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margie and K.D. Hall; and her son, Michael Holloway.

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Nedbalek of College Station; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Bridget Holloway and their daughters Allison, Alaina, and Veronica of College Station; her sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Thomas Hill, of Somerville; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie and Gene Brown, of College Station. Other survivors include her nieces, Michelle Screaton of Durham, UK, Kay Hill of Houston, Kathryn Singletary of Austin, Katy Brown of Snook, and nephew, Stephen Brown of College Station, as well as many cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley or local animal shelter.
