William Goubeau Obituary

William Henry Goubeau, age 90, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the evening of Aug. 3, 2025, at Vancrest Nursing Home in St. Marys.
Born Dec. 17, 1934, in Spencerville, Ohio, William was the son of Jesse and Velva (Deitsch) Goubeau, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Loveda Gentner.
William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Neargarder) Goubeau, who survives him. William and Patricia were married on June 18, 1955, and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage-a true testament to their lifelong love and commitment.
A hardworking man, William spent 40 years with Goodyear, building a life grounded in dedication and perseverance. He was a proud member of the St. Marys Tri-Squares, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), and a member of both the Allen County Archers and the New Bremen Rod and Gun Club.
An avid outdoorsman, William loved hunting and bass fishing. He also had a passion for motorcycles and was rarely seen without his cowboy boots. He enjoyed a good western movie and never missed an opportunity to sit down and watch wrestling.
William was a storyteller at heart. If you were willing to listen, he'd take you back to the "good old days"-recounting where people lived, where he grew up, the mischief he got into, and all the moments that shaped his life. He reminisced often and with great detail, preserving family history through his words and memories.
He leaves behind a large and loving family. William was the proud father of Mike Goubeau, Genia Goubeau-Stroh, John (Rosanne) Goubeau, Doug Goubeau, Sue (John) Tellsbo, and Bruce (Joreen) Goubeau. He was a cherished grandfather to Josh (Alyssa) Goubeau; Tom (Treva) Goubeau; Nick (Kaitlyn) Goubeau; Tasha Goubeau (Rick Fontanini); Eric Goubeau; Colette (Alex) Wenning; Tyler (Samantha) Goubeau; Andrea (Jimmy) Neiberg; Justin (Mindy) Gonzalez; Cory (Dolly) Gonzalez; and Kateland (Richie) Gutierrez. He was preceded in death by his grandson Tyson Goubeau. William is also survived by ten great- grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.
Those who knew William will remember him as a man of strong values, gentle wisdom, and quiet humor-a man who led by example and lived a life full of purpose, stories, and heart. Funeral rites are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, Ohio. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, St. Marys, Ohio.

So sorry for the family's loss. I knew Bill years ago. He was a very friendly and fun to be around. I went to alot of drag raced with him. The only person I rode a motorcycle 100 MPH with. Scared me but I didn't tell him. My condolences to the family.

One of the most treasured memories we hold are the unforgettable trip, Bill, my sister Patti, Byron and I, had taken across the country .....a road trip, that have stayed with us ever since. Together we stood in awe at Mount Rushmore, visited the corn palace and Wall Drug and took in the vastness of the salt flats. That road trip led us all the way to our home in Seattle, we explored the city, went to the top of the space needle, wandered through the Pike Place market felt the cool breeze of Puget Sound on the ferry ride, and we´re amazed by the Boeing plant etc. These days were more than just sightseeing. They were a celebration of togetherness of laughter shared across the highways and dinner tables. That trip was a gift to all of us....and it will remain bright memory in our hearts forever
We miss Bill dearly, and we are grateful for the time we shared the places we saw and the memories we now carry like treasures.Rest in peace Bill, your journey lives on in our hearts.
