Alfred Andrews Obituary

Andrews, Alfred G. Alfred was born October 3, 1941, was blessed to be the first born of Rev. Clyde and Sister Mildred Andrews. A longtime resident of Joliet, IL and was a friend to many. Soft spoken with a kind spirit, he will be sorely missed. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor after many years of service. He passed away on December 23, 2013. Preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice and one grandson, Kyle Watt. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and now is resting and awaiting the rapture of God's saints to be caught up first in the Heaven's with him. He was a great violinist and an avid lover of music. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and family was important to him. He was the loving husband of his dedicated wife, Betty Joe; the proud father of Brian and Renee; three siblings, Clyde Andrews, Jr., William Andrews and Sherry Arthur; nine grandchildren, Brian Jr., Tiffany, Keegan, Shawn, Jarrell, Krystal (Ray), Brandon, Byron, and Keenan; 25 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Joan Gaston of Joliet, IL, Ed (Catherine) Wright, Water Valley, MS, James (Valerie) Wright of Water Valley, MS, Dorothy Townsend, Water Valley, MS, Inez (James) Smith of Milwaukee, WI, Martha Cunningham of Milwaukee, WI, Mildred Wright of Milwaukee, WI, Kenneth (Rochelle) Miller of Chicago, IL and Mary Ann (Calvin) Tally of Oxford, MS; special friend, Herman Wheatley and John Gavin and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the St. John M.B. Church, 104 E. Zarley Blvd., Joliet, IL. Service at 10:00 a.m., Bishop Willie H. Loyd, officiating. Interment following at Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL. Special thanks to Salem Village and Presence St. Joseph Medical staff on 8 West. I knew Alfred for only a few years when we were in the same seventh and eighth grade homeroom at Farragut grade school.He was a marvelous musician and top student.He took no back step from anybody and was a class person even at that early period of his life.I lost contact with Al and am so happy to know he had a good life.
