Cecelia Maxard Obituary

Maxard, Cecelia A. (Nee Porebski). Age 89, of Gardner, IL, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at her home. Born January 20, 1922 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Helen (nee Rakoczy) Porebski. Mrs. Maxard was formerly employed as a CNA at Fox Center in Dwight, IL. Cecelia was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington, IL. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. Surviving are her son, Joe (Linda) Maxard of Gardner; three daughters, Donna (Duane) Lewis of Gardner, Jeanne (Merrill) Harvey of Gardner and Rosalie (Dan) Lardi of South Wilmington; twelve grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister Theresa (late Henry) Kupczak of Custer Park; sister-in-law, Doris Porebski of MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, George Joseph Maxard, whom she married September 5, 1943; brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph and Josie Porebski and John Porebski; and sister and brother-in-law, Julia Mary and Matthew Wozniak. Funeral services will be from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., South Wilmington Chapel, Tuesday, May 17, at 9:30 a.m. to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Honicak officiating. Interment Braceville-Gardner Cemetery in Braceville, IL. The pallbearers will be Ryan Maxard, Shane Maxard, Joel Maxard, Chris Lewis, Adam Lewis, and Tim Harvey. The visitation will be Monday, May, 16, from 5-8 p.m. Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the church for masses. R.W.
