Kelly McEwen Obituary
Kelly Cherette' McEwen, born September 2, 1969. She passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014.
She attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated in 1987. Kelly worked for 23 years in Environmental Services and also as a painter.
Kelly was very quiet unless she knew you well. Those who knew her considered her a true comedian. She always smiled and joked and made you laugh.
She met the love of her life, Deon McEwen and they were married for 18 years. To this union, no children were born, but they have a very special god son, Drake "Drakey" Justice, whom they both love and adore dearly.
Kelly was a very passionate and loving family person. Nothing pleased her more than being with her family and friends. She loved music, movies and videos and was often kidded about having her own video store. Her collection was enormous.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Robinson; maternal grandfathers, Osco Gregory and Flip Robinson; aunt, Shirley Justice; uncles, Billy Robinson, Charles Robinson, Horace Clark, and Robert Justice; cousins, Theodore Clarke, Renee' Clarke, Bobby Justice; and aunt, Corine Clarke.
She is survived by and leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Deon J. McEwen; parents, Penny and Darnell Johnson; natural father, Laverne R. West; sisters, Kendra Spiva (Jonathan), Michelle Justice, Yvette Jacquet (Kevin), Cynthia Justice, Crystal Goss, Jennifer Washington (Eugene), and Alexis West; brothers, Laverne West, Brandon West, Andre West, Lance West, Josh and Zai West, Anthony Gaskin (Robin), Michael Page (Detra), Stephen Johnson (Cynthia); mother-in-law, Bette (Harris) Brown; father-in-law, John (Azela) McEwen; brother-in-law, Craig McEwen; sisters-in-law, Tia McEwen and Megan McEwen; god-son, Drake Robert Justice. Kelly was also blessed to have a host of aunts; uncles; cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends and two special honorary moms that loved and nourished her and who were blessed to have Kelly love them.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 11:00AM to 12:00 Noon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1710 Carey St. Joliet, IL, Dr. Angelo Hill, pastor. Service at 12:00 Noon, Rev. Phillip Clarke, officiating. Private interment.

Heartfelt prayers to Kelli' s family. I had the privilege of meeting Kelli at "Jan's," Debbie' shop. Kelli was initially quiet; however, in "due time," Kelli shared her charming, humorous & witty personality! I will miss Kelli entering the shop with a book in hand & her glowing smile. May God comfort the family.

Kelly you were one bright and glowing friend that anyone would want to be around. Your laughs made the day go by faster. As we will all grieve for you we are all very lucky to have fond memories of you. God will see your family through this difficult time, yet we believe you are watching over all of us. You definitely made going to work fun and well worth it.
