Kenneth Simonich Obituary

Kenneth C. Simonich Sr.
Born: July 20, 1945
Died: February 25, 2025
Ken was born July 20, 1945 and passed away suddenly on February 25, 2025. He was born to the late Margaret (Setina) Simonich and the late Charles Simonich. Ken grew up in the Chaney area of Crest Hill, later residing in Joliet and Plainfield.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rhea-Joy (Brown) Simonich. He is survived by children Kenneth C. Simonich Jr. and Annette M. Simonich and Laurie Jo (Simonich) and Michael Urbanczyk. His greatest gift of having loving grandchildren KC Simonich III, Kylee Krippel (Bleon Salihu), Kari (Kameron) McNicholas and Brooke Urbanczyk. His greatest blessing of being a Great-Grandfather to Elle McNicholas. He is survived by his siblings Charlene (John Knorr), Charles (Judy) Simonich and Clyde (Pearl) Brown. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many special neighbors in the Vintage Harvest Plainfield neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Helen (Jahneke) and Melvin Brown and his siblings Margie Bernicky, Greg Simonich and Sandy (Sid) Camacho.
Ken will be remembered for his love for his family and loyal friendships. He was the kind of guy who could fix anything and was willing to give a helping hand to those who needed him. Simply the best of the best. Ken was employed by the Caterpillar Tractor Company for 36 years retiring in 1999. Once retired, you could find him working in his yard, doing projects in his immaculate clean garage, or creating masterpieces in woodwork. No project was ever too big. Want to take out a wall in your kitchen? Let's do it. Oh you wrecked your car? Bring it over and we can fix it. You want lights on your batting cage for KC to hit at night in the backyard? No problem. Our Dad and Papa was loving, supportive and had a gift for thinking things through. He traveled the country on many vacations to Hawaii, Jamaica and Alaska. He was the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren's activities. His love for his wife was unmatched and was the foundation for how he lived his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Plainfield Congregational Church Micro Pantry where he spent countless hours with his better half, Rhea-Joy, shopping for non-perishable food items.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2:00-6:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at the Plainfield Congregational United Church of Christ, 24020 W. Fraser Rd, Plainfield. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet. For information please call 815-436-9221 or visit www.overman-jones.com
