Alexandra Raineault Obituary

Alexandra Elaine Raineault died on March 29, 2010 in an auto accident outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Born April 1, 1987 in the Dominican Republic, she brought joy to Jack Raineault and Elaine Schwartz by becoming their adopted daughter at the age of 6 weeks. Alex graduated from West Rocks School in Norwalk and the Hyde School in Woodstock, CT. She attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA, Norwalk Community College, and most recently, was enrolled in Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, NC where she was studying to become a medical assistant. Alex was a talented singer and loved all types of music. She was also an exceptional athlete and played goalie on the lacrosse and ice hockey teams at the Hyde School. Alex was beloved for her great sense of humor and wonderful heart. She was always available to help out those who needed support.

She is survived by her father, Jack Raineault, and her stepmother, Ruth Ahlers, of Norwalk, and by her grandmother, Anne Schwartz of Manhattan. She is also survived by a daughter, Emily, who was offered by Alex to a loving family as their adopted child. Alex is loved by her many friends and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Westport on April 17, 2010 at 11am. I had the honor of knowing Alexandra while attending Chatham College. She was always a joy to chat with--honestly one of the funniest young women I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Seeing her at the lunch table my Sophomore year always brought joy to my day. Much love to her memory and family. ~ Cait McCabe
