Robert Heslin Obituary

Robert Michael Heslin
Robert "Bob" Michael Heslin, husband of Elizabeth (Spada) Heslin, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly May 12, 2017. He was the son of James & Louise Heslin. He is survived by his children, Krista (John) Morris, Matthew (Kim) Heslin, and Michael (Jennifer) Heslin, and his five grandchildren; William, Spencer and Owen Morris, and Rylan and Bryce Heslin.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, James (Mary) Heslin, Patricia Olsen, Susan (William) Quish, Stephen (Jeanne) Heslin and Sharon (Kevin) Kruszewski.
Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam war. He worked for Aetna Health Plans for 27 years, and retired in 1996 as Vice President. After his retirement, he and Beth became the owner/operators of Jan-Pro Cleaning Systems of Southern, CT. After selling the business, he fulfilled his dream of helping people, and was the Director of Pastoral Care at New Beginnings Community Church. He was known for his humility and genuine love for people. Bob was gentle, kind and generous.
He was known as "FUB", Fun Uncle Bob, to all his nieces and nephews.
As a member of New Beginnings Community Church, his greatest joy was holding the church door open every Sunday, and greeting each and every person who came through by name.
He loved riding his Harley, family vacations in Ormond Beach, buying donuts for the grandchildren, having his cigar and seeing his friends every Tuesday night at the lounge.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (May 19, 2017) from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
The Heslin family also invites you to join them on Saturday (May 20, 2017) at 10 a.m. for a memorial service, at New Beginnings Community Church, Darien.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to New Beginnings Community Church – Financing the Vision (NBCC – FTV), 65 Tokeneke Road, Darien, CT 06820. For online condolences please visit www.rosehillfuneralhomes.com.

Sending so much love to Bob's family. I just heard of his passing today, and I still am having a hard time letting this news sink in. I only worked with Bob for a short time at Prudential, but his friendship, patience and gentle spirit meant everything. Peace be with your entire family.

My heart is truly saddened by the passing over of one of earths truly "good guys"! I will miss Bob. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he was glowing...we exchanged hellos and small talk. I will keep that pic in mind until we all share heaven with him. He's home waiting for all of us. The family will be in my prayers. Love Jodi LoDolce & fam

Bob will be greatly missed. I had the privilege of learning from, working with and working for Bob during many of the 25+ years we spent at Aetna. He truly cared about the folks with whom he worked and many people learned a lot from Bob about both life and work. RIP, Bob.

It is with great sadness that I write this message. Bob was a wonderful boss, a role model, and a great friend who helped me in innumerable ways during my time at Aetna. Bob was smart, kind, fun loving, generous, encouraging, patient, and wise. He was a strong and positive leader who helped everyone around him to grow. It looks like Bob found much happiness and fulfillment in his life after Aetna and that is really great to see. My deepest sympathy to Beth and all of Bob's family. Bob was a good man.

With sincere sympathy to the entire Heslin family. Bob and I were in the same training class when we started at Aetna in 1968, and became close friend in and out of the office. A truly caring person with a ready smile, who touched many lives.
