Stephanie Palladino Obituary

Stephanie B. (Maciora) Palladino, widow of the late Rudolph T. Palladino of Norwalk, died April 18, 2016 at the Regional Hospice in Danbury. Born in Clinton, Massachusetts on October 20, 1926 to Joseph and Rose (Dzicek) Maciora, Stephanie graduated in 1944 from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport. She attended the Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1947 and was a Registered Nurse at Norwalk Hospital until her retirement in 1988. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Lysak of Sellersville, PA, Mary Niedzwiecki of Bridgeport and Bertha Niedzwiecki of Cary, NC, formerly of Bridgeport. She is survived by her children, Lisa Palladino and her husband, Joseph Schnierlein of Norwalk; Cynthia Ingersoll and her husband, Richard of Andover, VT; Allison Bloom and her husband, Donald of Newtown and four loving grandchildren: Daniel and Lauren Ingersoll and Rebecca and Timothy Bloom. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. During her long nursing career, Stephanie was known by patients and co-workers alike for her compassion, kindness and comforting smile. After her retirement, she took up arts and crafts and loved making homemade gifts for friends and family. A consummate “shop-a-saurus”, Stephanie had an uncanny knack for surprising her loved ones with just the right gifts. (Nothing excited her more than to “hit the jackpot” with a peel-off 30% coupon from Kohl’s.) She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, UCONN women’s basketball and college football. What her family knows about football they learned from Stephanie. She was ever grateful for the kindness of many strangers who held doors for her and offered assistance when she went out to do errands with one of her daughters. She especially enjoyed getting her hair done and going out to lunch. Stephanie will be missed for her beautiful spirit, her love and devotion to her family, her compassion for those less fortunate – and that ever present luminous smile. Plans for a memorial service are pending and will be announced at a future date. Contributions in her memory may be made to Stephanie’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Lisa, Cindy and Allison,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. What I remember most about your mother was her bright smile that lit a room and a spirit filled with joy! She was always so kind and welcoming to me. You could feel the warmth and love exuding from her. Even though I was young, I have many fond memories of my visits.
