Carol Fenton Obituary

Carol Jean Fenton, 78

May 24, 1945 - November 14, 2023

GRAND ISLAND - Carol Jean (Wissing) Fenton, 78, of Grand Island passed away on November 14, 2023, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.

Funeral Services for Carol will be at 10:30 AM Monday, November 20, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to later donate to the ICU floor at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com

Carol was born the fourth of seven children on May 24, 1945, to John and Lorraine (Leschinsky) Wissing in Grand Island. She attended St. Libory Catholic School grades K-8th before attending St. Paul High School.

She worked as a stay at home mother taking care of her two children, Mark and Kim, until 1973 when she went to work as a bookkeeper for Grand Island Tire Sales. In 1977, she went to work for Austin Mobile Homes where she met and then worked alongside her life partner, Homer Elrod.

Carol was the best mom her two kids could have ever wanted. She provided support, unconditional love, and unselfish devotion to meet every need.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved trying to find a good bargain at Dillards, spending time with her family, the holidays, cooking, sewing, golf, traveling, Pilates, Yoga, and was very caring towards others. She was an integral part of the horse trail riding group even though she didn't ride.

Survivors include her life partner, Homer Elrod; children, Mark (Allison) Fenton and Kim (Brad) Arnold; grandchildren: Lindsey, Chelsey, Ryan, Eric, Jamie, Ashley, Brett, Kyle and Amy Jo; great grandchildren, Carter, Kylin, Amelia, Madeline, and Oliver; four brothers, Norman (Geraldine) Wissing, Roger (Theresa) Wissing, Alan (Rebecca) Wissing, and Steven (Brenda) Wissing; two sisters, Janelle Culp and Marjean (Rick) Pedersen; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Larry.

We met her thru the horse club plus we had known Homer for sometime. She was a fun person to be around but sometimes very serious about things. She will be missed.
