Richard Dawson Obituary

SUN LAKES, Ariz. -- Richard E. "Dick" Dawson, 83 of Sun Lakes, Ariz., formerly of Grand Island, passed away peacefully Feb. 3, 2012, at Scottsdale Health Care Osborne with family at his bedside.

Dick was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Marshalltown, Iowa. His military career was 1946 through 1948 and again 1951 through 1953. His working career was with the Lennox Furnace Co. in Iowa, Colorado and as a territory manager in Nebraska.

He leaves behind his wife, Avonelle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Dawson, Douglas and Sheri Dawson; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Robert Hinds; granddaughters, Bailey and Jill; and grandsons, Ryan and Cody.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying sports of hunting, fishing and in retirement bike riding, hiking and tennis.

At Dick's request a service will be when he and his wife of 58 years take their final journey together.
