Rolland R. Bennett, 85
GRAND ISLAND - Rolland "Ron" R. Bennett, age 85, of Grand Island, passed away Friday, September 22 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Funeral Service with military honors will be held Saturday, September 30th at 10am at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 29th from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. A Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the family for later designation. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com.
Rolland was born November 11, 1937 in Grand Island to William and Hattie (Lorance) Bennett. He received his education in Grand Island. In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was honorable discharged in 1958.
Ron was united in marriage to Jolene and to this union daughters, Ronda, Laurie and Patty were born. He was united in marriage to Kari and to this union he had a daughter, Kristi and gained a stepson, Kelly Flatness. He was united in marriage to Lyla for 25 years and to this union he gained stepchildren, Christi and Marlon.
Ron enjoyed playing horseshoes, keno and shuffleboard. He liked to go camping and fishing at Alexandria State Park. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ron was a truck driver at Rapid Freight for 15 years then was with Monfort Meat Packing Plant for 15 years. He then went to work at the south Walmart as a door greeter where he was employed for 17 years.
Survived by daughters, Ronda Bennett, Laurie Vargason, Patty (Dave) Friedricksen all of Grand Island; son in-law, Andy Veeder of Grand Island; sisters, Beverly Warnke of Grand Island and Angie (Garth) Wilson of Blanding, UT; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Kristi Veeder; brothers, Norman and Lyle Bennett; sister, Ramona Bennett and brother in-law, Steve Warnke.

Ron was always a joy to visit with. He was a man of few words but could talk with his eyes. Was blessed to get to know him. Rest in peace Ron. Healing thoughts and prayers to the family.
