Dana Cox Obituary

DANA DEWYTE COX Dana Dewyte Cox, beloved father, community leader, and dedicated public servant, passed away on January 30th, 2025, at the age of 96. Dana was born on August 13th, 1928, in Sedgwick, Kansas, where he lived most of his life as a proud fifth-generation farmer. A man of intellect and principle, Dana earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University before continuing his education at Wichita State University, where he completed a graduate degree in Political Science. His lifelong dedication to his community and country was reflected in his tireless involvement in local and state politics. Dana served in various Republican Party leadership positions, including as a member of the Republican Party State Executive Committee and as Chairman of the Central Committees of the 4th and 5th Congressional Districts of Kansas. Dana's passions extended beyond politics. A committed member of The Shriners and the Masons, Dana also served on the Board of Prairie View, furthering his work with the community. He was a Deacon at UCC Congregation Church in Sedgwick, Kansas. He was an active participant in the Harvey County Watershed, working to preserve and protect the local environment for future generations. He was a lover of life and enjoyed traveling and having fun. Additionally, Dana's love for the arts was evident in his years of participation in theatrical productions with the Bethel College Community Theatre. After retiring, Dana relocated to Weehawken, New Jersey, in 1998. Dana is survived by his sister, Madeline Mosiman of Sedgwick, KS, ex-wife, Louise Cox of Williamsport, MD, and his three daughters: Shon Boman, Willow Cox, and Elyce Arons, five granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Holiday Lynn Cox. His legacy of service, hard work, living life to the fullest and love for his family will endure for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in his memory. Dana Dewyte Cox
