Doris Robinson Obituary
She was born to Foster Herbert Payne and Ruby Payne Melton on Jan. 4, 1929, in Kershaw, and grew up in the nearby Haile Gold Mine community.
She graduated from Flat Creek High School and soon began working for Springs Industries, where she was a loyal employee until retirement. In addition to being employed full time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and attending all church-related events and activities.
Doris married her high school sweetheart soon after graduation. Although they divorced in later years, they were blessed with two children, Grover Jackie (Pat) Robinson of Kershaw, and Linda Robinson (Carroll) Taylor of Mount Pleasant.
In addition to her children, Doris adored her grandchildren: Chris (Angela) Robinson, Sarah Taylor (Brandon) Linden, Cody Robinson and Tonya Smith (Jeremy) Sisler, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jack and Mills Linden, and Caitlin and Jacob Sisler.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Jack W. Robinson; and her beloved sister, Vida Payne Dailey.
Doris is survived by her brother, John Reggie (Betty) Payne; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
Doris' true joy in life was spending time with her family, her church and her church family. She could be found at church any time the door was open, and she took great pride in greeting each person who entered. She never tired of hearing and sharing God's word and of singing his praises.
A memorial service to remember and celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton St., Kershaw. Pastor Stephen Braswell will conduct the service.
The family will greet those in attendance immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Memorial expressions of sympathy made to made to Destiny Bible Church, 2422 Flat Creek Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home in Kershaw.
