Frederick Abernathy Obituary

Frederick "Freddie" Jones Abernathy

Frederick "Freddie" Jones Abernathy, age 78 of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 25th at 2 p.m., at Salem United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brian Marcoulier and Rev. Mark Ashley officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, July 24th from 4 to 7 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and Saturday, July 25th from 12 Noon until the hour of service, at Salem United Methodist Church.

Freddie was born July 20, 1937 in Montgomery County, son of the late Charles F. Abernathy and Maude Jones Abernathy. He was also preceded in death by brother, Howard Abernathy; sister, Hazel A. Morris; and nephews, Gregory B. Morris and Scott A. Thomas.

He was a retired co-owner of Clarksville Ready Mix. He was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class.

Freddie is survived by his loving wife of over 58 years, Joyce Roberts Abernathy; sisters, Charlene Thomas and Judy Ussery; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alex Morris, Charlie Davis, Andy Ussery, Matthew Hagewood, Phillip Hagewood, and Knox Thomas III.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2269 Seven Mile Ferry Road, Clarksville, TN 37040.

Joyce we are so sorry to learn of Freddie's passing. Mark and I didn't find out until today, Sat. afternoon, July 25th. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time.
