LAKELAND - Faye Alexander, 93, of Lakeland, passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 after a long illness.
An open house service celebrating her life will be held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law from 2:00 until 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 27th at 1708 Quail Hill Drive in Lakeland. Pastor Steven Strader of Ignited Church will be officiating at 2:00 pm. The remainder of the service will be informal so that attendees may visit with family members and share memories of Faye.
Faye was born in Galesburg, Illinois on January 19, 1928, but spent most of her life in Wisconsin. She graduated from Viroqua High School and continued on to complete her training at Viroqua Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse.
Faye was married to Elmer Alexander on February 9th, 1947. They celebrated their 74th anniversary this month, just a few days before her passing.
Faye enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher at various schools, both public and private, for more than twenty years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and she loved to sing. She was also actively involved in Ignited Church before her illness.
Faye was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelyne Alexander, a sister, Phyllis Lisenby, and her parents Guy and Ethel Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, Elmer 'Al' Alexander, her daughter, Joan Van Veen (Hub) her son, Mitch Alexander (Giliane), her grandchildren Ross and Collin Apitz, Tyler and Austin Alexander, and Lauren Arsenault (Anthony), and by her sisters, Merrlyn Schoville (Keith) and Rita Faith (Jim).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland, Florida. The family is so grateful for their compassionate support during Faye's last days on earth.
