Last night I learned about Mr. Schulz passing away.

I am very sorry. I am honored to have known him through my friendship with Carla.

Mr. Schulz was a brilliant man; more importantly, he was a caring, gracious and loving man.

When I think of him I recall his chuckle when he would listen to one of Mrs. Schulz' witty observations, the respect that he showed his children, and how generous he was with his time and his talent.

My fondest memory of him is when he patiently explained to me, an inquisitive college kid, the magical process of converting citrus peel oil into cleaning solutions. :)
I remember most of all the twinkle in his eye when he talked to his wife or with Paul, Carla, Beth and Laura. You are in my prayers. love, Marita

Dearest Helene and family,
I am so saddened to hear of Mr. Bert's passing. I always loved hearing about the way that he would come home for lunch with Helene each day. I wish you peace and comfort during such a difficult loss. Hopefully the reassurance that he has claimed his new body and is sitting by God's side watching over you always is some comfort. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Dear Mrs Schulz, Beth, Paul, Carla, Laura, and family.

You each are so often in my thoughts and memories of a lifelong family friendship. May you find peace during this time of loss from this season of Advent. And, may all of the wonderful memories of life with Bert/your Dad bring you happiness.

The best story I remember about Mr. Schulz/your Dad was when my Uncle Vernon visited from Australia and voiced to Mr. Schulz/your Dad his regret of not having yet seen a Florida Aligator - to which Mr. Schulz/your Dad responded by putting on a headlamp (it was night for God's sake!) and walked out back to the lake and plucked one out of the water!

Thanks to Bert/your Dad - and each of you - for being a friend to my family.

With Love,
Tara Bartholomew

I was blessed to be able to visit Great Uncle Bert just before Thanksgiving this year. He smiled, asked how we were doing and told us he was very glad we came to visit. I'm glad I was able to visit as well. He was a very brillant man, whom I enjoyed talking and visiting with every summer of my childhood.

Several months after Dave and Laura married, Bert paid me one of the greatest compliments of my life when he said in his quiet and gentle way, "Thank you for your son." I could reciprocate with "Thank you for your Laura." Just recently I was able to tell him how much I am enjoying my friendship with his daughter Beth who has moved close to us in Asheville.

It was about three years ago when I was visiting my Aunt and Uncle for a Christmas Eve family gathering.
We sat and talk for a good while and I left, but return to get my jacket.
I walk into the living room and over heard Bert speaking to Beth his oldest daughter.
I taken by his tenderness.
Beth traveled very far and wasn't too sure she would make it.
He told her :"Beth we are glad you are here and we love you very much."
Then embraced her with a loving bear hug.
Well, Bert..."We were glad you were here and we love you very much."
