AUBURNDALE - Mr. Mack Ual Spears, age 85 a resident of Auburndale, FL. passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at his residence due to lung cancer.
Mr. Spears was born June 8, 1923 in Sampson, Alabama to Thomas LaRue and Mattie Lou (Wise) Spears. He was a retired inspector for General Motors. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Winter Haven and also attended services at the Hilltop Church of Christ in Winter Haven. Mack was a member of the Masonic Lodge #535 in Michigan. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and loved to farm. He was resident of Auburndale for over 30 years.
Mack is survived by: wife: Sue Spears of Auburndale, FL.; son Robert "Bob" (Wendy) Spears of Texas; 2 stepdaughters: Roberta (Richard) Hedley of Lake Alfred, Sheri Weed of Winter Haven; brother Dykes (Doris) Spears of Winter Haven; sister Sarah (Wayne) Hart of Lakeland; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those so desiring to make donations in Mack's name to Good Shepherd Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Kersey Funeral Home with interment to follow at Auburndale Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
