MYRTLE CLARK Obituary

MYRTLE MOON CLARK, 94

BARTOW - Myrtle Moon Clark, age 94, passed away December 31, 2020 from Covid related illness.
Myrtle was born October 11, 1926 in Madison, Florida to Grady and Essie Moon. She was a homemaker early on and later in life worked for her son's law firm in accounting and for Polk County. Myrtle lost her husband, Ulray Clark, in 1986 and lived in her home in Bartow until her recent hospitalization. She also lost her only daughter, Susanne Byrd, in 2020.
She was predeceased by her two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her two sons and their families: son Alan Clark and wife Cindi of Bartow, their daughter Cara Hill and husband Travis of Gainesville and son Brad of Bartow; and son Ron Clark and wife Denise of Lakeland, their daughter Alison Anderson, husband Tom of Lakeland and their two children, Lila and Joe, their son Matt Clark, wife Anna of Lakeland and their three children, Hayden, McKenna and Glory. She loved and was very proud of her sons and their spouses, her 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visits from the grandchildren and great grandchildren were greatly anticipated and enjoyed. She is also survived by three nieces and a nephew. Myrtle played for her Madison high school basketball team and loved to play golf. She married her husband Ulray after his return from World War II as a paratrooper. They moved to Gainesville where Ulray received his degree from UF and began working for the state. After graduation, Myrtle and Ulray lived in various Florida cities as the state moved him around, but the final home was Bartow which they both loved very much. Myrtle enjoyed all Gator sports, certainly including football, but had a soft spot for the lady Gators softball team. She was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and refused to miss a televised game anytime day or night. She loved to fish and was an avid reader. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartow.
Given the Covid environment, a private graveside service will be held at the Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow. Condolences to the family at

Ms. Myrtle was one of the sweetest Christian women I’ve known. She was like a mom to me. I am so sorry she has gone on to be with our Lord but know her light is shining brightly in Heaven❤ Barbara Cootes
