WASHINGTON, D.C. - Nancy Greer Bebb of Washington, D.C., passed away on August 18, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
She was born on March 9, 1928, the only child of George Wilson Greer and Luanna Lorena 'Bo' (Bryant) Greer.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edward Kent Bebb, and her parents. She is survived by daughters Nancy (Gary) Cable, Lakeland, FL, Roberta (Scott) Veazey, Louisville, KY, Bonnie Gouldin, Mechanicsville, VA; son Edward (Laura) Bebb, Lakeland, FL; and grandchildren Bryant (Mel-issa) Cable, Bethany (Steve) Fisher, Edward Lee Veazey (Lauren), Loren (CJ) Sosinski, Haley (David) Sims, Kent (Meghan) Goul-din, Alexander Bebb, and William 'Tony' Bebb. Nan rejoiced in being the great grandmother of nine young children.
Nan and Kent raised their children in Austin, TX and Arlington, VA. She worked as a Welcome Wagon hostess and later served in the Arlington County School System for 15 years as a school nurse. Following retirement, they took to the open road, wearing out several motorhomes as they traveled all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Nan and her husband settled in Lakeland where she continued her love for children, tutoring elementary age children in several Lakeland area schools. She was a servant leader at The Estates at Carpenters and a statewide leader with the Florida Life Care Residents Association (FLICRA). She was of the Baptist Faith. She sang in the choirs of several churches and continued sharing her love of music for many years with her Carpenter's Home neighbors.
A memorial service at The Estates at Carpenters will be held at a future date. Interment at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL will follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Florida Baptist Children's Home or Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE). Both organizations have offices in Lakeland and would continue Nan's legacy of love and service to the young and old.
