LAKELAND - Mr. Richard E. Carter, age 74, passed away June 4, 2007 due to cancer.



Mr. Carter was born September 2, 1932 in Blue Hill, ME. to Pearl and Beatrice Carter. He moved to Lakeland 25 years ago from Surry, ME. Mr. Carter was an Air Force veteran prior to being employed by Holiday Inn South for 13 years.



Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Beatrice; son, Larry Carter of Casco, ME.; daughters, Debby Fitch of Hancock, ME., and Diane Hunter of Lakeland; mother, Beatrice Clough, and sister, Barbara Tuozzo, both of Surry, ME; grandchildren, Lynne, Alan, Chris, Denise, John, Laurie, Jan, Shane, Katrina, and Dave; great-grandchildren, Alex, Rebecca, and Caycee.



Visitation will be Fri. from 6-8 pm at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Services will be conducted Sat. 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823 or Center For Cancer Care & Research, 1730 Lakeland Hills Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33805.

I can honestly say that I know what you are currently going through and will continue to go through in the weeks and months to come. You were there for me when I suddenly lost my father back in March. Remember that you are not alone and a friend is always here when you need one.
