Richard Lawson Obituary

RICHARD "RIC" E.
LAWSON, Jr., 50

LAKELAND - Mr. Richard "Ric" E. Lawson, Jr. left this world at home surrounded by his loving family on August 19th, 2011 after losing his battle with cancer.
Ric was born on April 18th, 1961 in Bangor, ME. He spent his life in Maine until he moved to Florida in 1981. He worked most of his life as a Mover and over the road driver working for United Van Lines and Lakeland Moving and Storage and also for Parker Bailey in Brewer, ME. By far, Ric's most rewarding job was the past 12 years that he spent with his "Postal Family" where he was a Mail Handler. Ric was a HUGE sports fan. His favorite sports teams were The New England Patriots, The Boston Red Sox, and The Florida State Seminoles. He also loved the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he wasn't mad at them for being stupid! Ric was extremely creative. He was an amazing woodworker and built many pieces of beautiful furniture. He prided his self on the fact that "none of his furniture was made with that particle board." He was very gifted when it came to drawing. Friends would ask him to do murals on their children's walls. Ric LOVED to do crossword puzzles. He used to challenge his friend Lynn to see who could get the crossword done the quickest. He loved to play darts and pool and loved to play scrabble with his sister Debbie, which he ALWAYS had to win. Ric's favorite holiday was Halloween, loved horror movies and Steven King.
The most important people in Ric's life were his 3 beautiful children and his 4 amazing grandchildren, Tyler, Madelyn, Adam and Adan. Ric was preceded in death by his loving mother Betty Lawson, and is survived by, his wife Rebecca Lawson, daughters, Jessica & Melanie Lawson, son, Richard E. Lawson, III all of Lakeland. Cherished Father, Richard E. Lawson, Sr., Debbie Lawson, a loving angel of a sister, both of Bangor, Maine. 2 brothers in Maine, Loving Mother-in-law, Doris Deeson, Brother-in-law, Raymond Jones Alabama, Sister-in-law Sheila Jones, Plant City, and 2 nephews, Raymond Jones II and Shawn McAfee.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 6-8PM. Services will be held in the Chapel of Lakeland Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10AM.

Ric I am so happy to call you friend. I know that being a Patriots fan is one of your faults but we all have them. Like mine, you know being a NY Giants fan. You never know how my team will ever do. I am going to miss you. But just knowing that you are in heaven with our lord and savior is a blessing in itself. Keep it tidy for us. We will see you when we see you.

To my dear nephew, Rick. I remember when I used to bring Andy to your house to play ball with you and Jeff. Also, I will never forget your long eyelashes, that all the girls went crazy over. What a handsome boy you were, and what a handsome man you grew up to be. Your loving Aunt Christina and Uncle Bernard

Ric, a very special nephew. What can I say, the memories have just been pouring out of my thoughts. Alot of them was when we all lived on state street. You,Jeff and Billy kept your mother and myself on our toes. We would ground the three of you, wondering what you would do the next time. You were a good practical joker, and I think you orderd the hurricane to go through Florida tomorrow. Going to miss you on facebook. We, your Maine family and friends, pray for your family and know that you will never be forgotten and always be loved. Rest in Peace. Forever Marguerite, Bill and family

Dad, I already miss you so much, now I am so lost and not sure how I am going to go through life now without you.. I just hope that I can be a great parent as you were. I am so proud to be your daughter, and so glad that my kids were able to get to know you, but now it is so hard to tell them that you are an angel now looking over them .. Madeline still cries when she sees a photo of you.. this is one of the hardest things I have ever been through but so happy glad that I was able to be by your side until your last breath.. I love you dad and I will always be thinking of you and telling your grandchildren how much you love them everyday.. R.I.P. Dad

Dear Ric, I am so proud to call you my friend. Being my brothers best friend made you like a brother to me. I will never forget the times we spent and shared together. I love you so very much and miss you already.A couple years ago on super bowl at Freds house we had a T.V in the bathroom so we didn't miss the commercials, I will never forget hearing you laughing while you were in there and when you came out you had tears rolling down your face. Special times like that make it hard, because I know how many more times I am going to miss with you. I love you bro. forever your friend. Melony Miller

Always remembered you as a child, chasing you to stay in the bed when I babysitted you guys. I hated hearing about your suffering, which is no more. Your home with your mom and she is happy to have you. May love and prayers be with the family left behind.

Ric I am so proud to be your sister, we have always had a special bond. You were there with me and I for you throughout our lives together. You went through so much pain and suffering for over three years, and you went to work and I wondered how you were able to still do it! I knew that you took so much pride in your work because that was who you were. I watched you slowly go and I just didn't want to let you go! It was time to leave this world and join our "MOM" that was my solace to know that you reached out and took her hand and are with her and are free!! love your sister, Debbie

Ric you was the best son any father could ever have, I was so proud of the man you grew to be! You always told me what a good childhood you had,and how you prided your work ethics after me.
I love you and know that you are not suffering and as hard as it was to let you go that afternoon, I knew you was with your Mom and she was there to take your hand to welcome you into heaven! Love Dad
