LAKE ALFRED- Vera Mae Elff, 74, of Lake Alfred, Florida passed away Sunday December 30th 2018.
Vera was born September 21, 1944 in Thomasville Georgia and grew up in Freehold, New Jersey, daughter of Joseph and Vera Addison. Vera graduated from Freehold Regional High School in 1961, where she met her future husband George Elff.
Vera and George were married in 1965 and lived in Freehold until relocating to Lake Alfred in 1994. Vera worked as a beautician, graduating from Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture, and co-owned and operated the Vera-Lee House of Beauty in Jackson, NJ, with her brother Lee Gilliard, currently residing in Auburndale.
In 1970 Vera and George became parents to Jody Elff, and in 1976 to Amanda Elff, after which Vera committed all of her time and effort to her family. Vera's life was defined by her generosity of spirit, unreservedly giving of herself to her children and family through her entire life. She was an exceptional cook, and poured her creative energy into crafting memorable dining experiences for anyone who visited her table, while instilling a deep appreciation for good food in her children. She was notoriously strong willed throughout her life, and worked tirelessly for the benefit of her family.
Vera was predeceased by her parents and her husband, and is survived by her brother Lee Gilliard, son Jody Elff (Anna Clyne), daughter Amanda Elff (Chris Heath), and 3 grandchildren, Addyson, Oliver, and Alastair.
