KENDRICK, III, 64
LAKELAND - Lakeland resident, Wiley Kendrick III "Brother Wiley", 64 transcended this life into the presence of his Heavenly Father the evening of June 8, 2013. He battled cancer.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 14 at Family Worship Center, Lakeland, Florida. Viewing will precede the service at 9:30 am.
Wiley, born October 4, 1948 in Mulberry, Florida and was first child of Berdelle Kendrick and Wiley Kendrick II.
Brother Wiley, as he is referred to by many, leaves us a legacy of love and compassion for others. He believed that God is always good and instilled that into everyone whose path he crossed. His personal ministry was to love and touch people from all walks of life. No one was ever a stranger
in his presence. His infectious smile and personality will be remembered forever. He lived a life of integrity and total devotion to the Lord
Jesus Christ and prompted everyone to do likewise. Wiley retired from Polk County Schools after 30 years of dedication as a 7th grade math
teacher. Wiley was a faithful member of Family Worship Center in
Lakeland, Florida. For the past 13 years he served as one of the
Associate Ministers under the leadership of Pastor Reggie Scarborough. He
resided in Lakeland, Florida.
Wiley is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki Lenoir Kendrick, daughter, Sheena Kendrick, son and daughter-in-love Ian and Michelle Kendrick, son, Nathaniel Kendrick, grandsons, Jaden and
Jorden Kendrick, all of Lakeland, Florida. Also, brother, Rev. Eugene
Kendrick (Wanda) of Bradley, Florida, brother, John (Pete) Pate of Dallas,
Texas, and sister, Linda Hayes (Rogers) of Mulberry, Florida.

Wow, this year was really rough. I had to confess several times, the joy of the Lord is my strength. Nobody told me that when you answered the Master's call I would be feeling like this. But do know, God is healing me as He promised. Heart is still sore, but I still trust God! I will always love you! Thank you God for giving me such an awesome big brother. Love and miss you tremendously.

I can't believe that it's been a year. Tear still flow when I think of all the times you encouraged me while I was battling cancer. You told me to trust God for my healing. There will never be another Wiley...When life was tough, looking back over the years, I'd go to church and the anointing on Bro. Wiley when he'd get up and sing would just lift me up and joy and peace would fill my soul...It seemed like heavy burdens were lifted off my shoulders... I just couldn't keep from smiling as he'd led me into praise and worship, which I so needed...I've never to this day seen anyone so comfortable and free flowing in the spirit as he, you could sense it was just "normal" for him...He had a smile that lit up a room and ALWAYS had a encouraging word. He was a man who walked with God... I miss Wiley, but I know one day when we enter heaven, he'll be there greeting us and once again, leading us into praise and worship in our everlasting home...

Wiley exists in the spirit only now, but what a strong and beautiful spirit he embodies. His family, his friends and everyone he reached out to and touched (which probably numbers in the thousands) will always remember the strength and magnitude of his spirit. His physical body is gone but his glorious spirit lives forever. His work is being continued through those left behind. He must be filled with joy to see the inspiration and strength he passed on to Vicki, his loving wife. Missed but never forgotten.

When I think of Brother Wiley a huge smile comes across my face. He was a huge influence in my life. He encouraged me, motivated me and most of all believed in me. I remember years ago when I would sit up front at church with my children or alone, he would be playing the piano during praise & worship and when the Holy Spirit was present and there was a call to come down for prayer, I would hesitate and stay right where I was frozen. Without fail, if I made eye contact with Brother Wiley he would nod his head for me to go down for prayer. I would say no with tears streaming down my face and then he would point that long finger at me just like a dad and give me that "look" that I better get down there for prayer. I would go down reluctantly with fear but the LORD would always able to work on me and bring me through whatever trial I was going through. Brother Wiley KNEW where my healing was coming from and pointed me in the right direction...always. The main point is that the enemy was defeated every single time Brother Wiley was around to encourage people to persevere, press on and not give up. If I missed church, he would call and say "and where have you been?" I had no excuses. Sometimes I did but he didn't listen. He would just say "See you at Fresh Start this week and where has your sister been?" I would gladly give him her number so he could give her "the talk" next. I say all this with a smile and fond memories of a man that loved the LORD and spread GOD's love contagiously. No matter where you were in life he loved you like Jesus. Thank you LORD for placing such a wonderful man, his family and Family Worship Center in my path so that my life along with my children's lives would be changed forever.

My God! My God! My God! Brother Wiley was truly one of the few people who completely surrendered his life and heart to God and let God use him for His Glory. Brother Wiley was humble, kind and compassionate and with Vicki by his side, touched many lives. Brother Wiley will forever live in our hearts as our spiritual mentor and great friend.

It has been almost 1 month since the passing of my husband. He was the love of my life and soulmate. For almost 30 years we loved, lived and served the Lord together. It was my privilege to share this awesome Godly man with the body of Christ. He exemplified the love of God both in public and at home. If you had the opportunity to experience his infectious smile, steadfast love and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, you knew the man that we knew and loved at home. I cannot begin to express my gratitute to my Heavenly Father for placing me in Wiley's life. I was his helpmeet and treasured every moment. To say I miss him would be an understatement. I am still lost for words. My heart is still aching. I had to say see you later to my Cousin. We were more than just cousins, we were like sister and brother. I always looked up to him and he never let me down. Wiley I know that you are in a better place, but the tears contine to fall knowing that you are no longer here with up. Thanks, Brother Wiley, for your ministry in music led by the Spirit of God. A couple of years ago at a strategic time in my life you sang "Victory in Jesus", when the Joy Center was the main church. A deep inner healing began that day within me and I am stronger now because of it. I know that my story is just one of thousands that your giftings ministered to. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I did not have Mr. Kendrick for math class back in 1979, but I would talk to him daily in the hallway. He left an impression that has lasted now for over 30 years. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to be blessed by his enthusiasm for life and the wisdom that he shared. Wiley had such an influence in my life at many occasions. I met Wiley at the age of 15, and he guided me in a direction that probably saved my life. I know mr. Kendrick was a wonderful child of god and seen him the couple of times I went family worship center. I also remember him as a wonderful math teacher at southwest middle school he was my teacher, he was so caring of his students and we could not have asked for a better teacher. We knew Wiley as a good friend and brother in the Lord. We were musicians together at Christ Community. We were friends since Carpenters Home church. What a wonderful person! My husband and I first met Wiley at my sister's house when we were visiting for a few days. He walked in I knew he had to be a good friend because he just made himself at home. I later discovered he was a close friend of my brother Ken, as well.As I began seeing him on later visits I realized why my family all loved him and I too grew to love and appreciate the man that he was. I always got a hug just like I was family and he called me his sister from Georgia. I always looked for him when we were able to attend FWC.I will miss my "brother" Wiley but I know we will all be reunited in Heaven. I can imagine that he's having quite a reunion with friends and family gone before him and I know that my brother Ken is right there with him. And best of all they are both in the presence of Jesus. My prayers are with all his family.

God bless you Vicki and family . Brother Wiley was always such a blessing in my life. He ministered in the hospital to my mom and dad many times. Soon after my mom had come out of a coma and was sitting up in her room, he visited her. She looked at him and said, Brother Wiley, what are you doing here?!! I will never forget his kindness to them at the time, and to me after each one had passed away. Thank you for sharing him with us over the years. Love, Patricia (Pat) Carden

You will always be Mr. Kendrick to me even though I attend Family Worship Center and everyone else calls you Brother Wiley, because that's how I first remember you as. You were my 7th grade teacher and you touched my life back then telling me: "Maranda,you can do it, don't give up! But I was stubborn and hard headed and gave you fits, but not once did you give up. Thank you for that, you will never be forgotten for that! And then a year ago when I returned to church and did the fresh start class, you didn't give up on me then! I'm so blessed to have known you and for my children to have been able to meet you as well and for you to have ministered to them as well. Thank you!

What can I say about Bro. Wiley that hasn't already been said. It is all true. The book isn't big enough to express who you was and will continue to be to so many people. The lives you have touched with words of wisdom and truth. My heart is so deeply saddened altho I know you would be saying right now rejoice my sister and do not be saddened for I will see you again in Heaven. You will be deeply missed. Brother Wiley was such an inspiration. So loved the way he allowed the Lord to use him to usher in the anointing via praise & worship. What an experience! He was our "Ron Kanoli". Our prayers are forever w/Ms Vicki, Shena, Ian, Nathaniel and the entire Kendrick Family.

Eugene, Pate, Linda, and Family. Heaven just got richer when Wiley went to be with our Lord. I have vivid memories of our times together on earth. Let us all continue to be faithful knowing that one day we shall again sing God's praise together on the other side. I am just one of the many many fortunate people to have had Mr. Kendrick as a teacher at SWJS. I was a handful back then, but he always smiled at me, and gave me daily words of wisdom, right after he shook his head and sighed. He had a tremedeous impact on my life, and I will never forget the kindness and patience that he had for me. He was a true man of God and he shared the love of Christ with everyone. He will truly be missed here on this earth, but I bet our Father is glad to have him home.
