Bette Arnold Obituary

Boerne - Bette Jean Hutson Arnold, 90, born July 20, 1932 in Pharr TX, passed peacefully July 24, 2022 in Boerne TX. Bette was raised to be very strong, resilient woman in McAllen TX, graduating from McAllen High School at age 16. She went to work for Bell Telephone Company where a close friend introduced Bette to a young man that was perfect for her, William Arnold. They married in 1951 & built their home on the family farm in Pharr, Texas.

In 1967, Bette started working for the Department of Highways & Public Transportation, retiring in 1993 after 26 years of service. Following retirement, Bette did many great things. She traveled to Russia, spent much time at South Padre Island, became a cherished "cuddler" at McAllen Medical Hospital & took granddaughters on trips across the United States.

Bette was involved in Bible Study Fellowship, spending several years in this study. Bette maintained a strong Christian faith throughout her life & loved the Lord with all her heart.

Bette was a great cook & pastry chef. No one could make a "Grapefruit Pie" like Bette. She will also be remembered for her great sense of humor, remaining until her last days.

Bette was blessed with a loving family & many lifelong friends. She has been a servant leader to many through her love & concern for others.

She is survived by daughter, Cheryl Tanner, son-in-law, Jack Tanner. Granddaughters, Betsy Tanner (Abraham Nieto) & Emily Palmer (Bryce), four greatgrandchildren, Chase, Luke, Lilly, & Jillian. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Arnold and her sister, Tillie Adams.

Graveside service will be 10:00 AM Friday July 29th 2022 at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Grace Community Church, Pharr, TX.

Betty was one of our "Cuddlers" in the NICU when I worked at MMC. She was an awesome lady. We all admired her so much. She used to bring our Staff her wonderful Grapefruit pies! She will be missed dearly. God bless her family. My sincere Condolences and Prayers go out to you.
