CASSANDRA "CASSIE" MARTINEZ
EDINBURG - Cassandra "Cassie" Martinez became an Angel on Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Born November 6, 1991, Cassie was a sophomore at Edinburg North High School. Cassie was a cheerleader, and honor student taking Pre AP courses. She was a former student in Dance/Ballet with Deborah Case Dance Academy. Cassie was a beautiful, happy, loving, fun, caring daughter, friend, granddaughter, aunt and sister-in-law. Cassie's passion was dancing. She loved to dance ballet and participate in all high school academic and cheerleading activities. She adored all of her friends and family. Her heart and soul is the love of her parents life. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Cassie is survived by her parents, Marcos and Vicky Martinez; a brother, Marcos Antonio (Jeanette) Martinez; a sister, Kristian Ashley Martinez; a niece, Allison Martinez; paternal grandparents, Gabino and Manuela Martinez of Edinburg; maternal grandparents, Jose Victor and Amparo Perez of Elsa; paternal aunt, Nilda (Daniel) Salas; maternal aunts, Sylvia (David) Silva of Elsa, Noemi (Bert) Diaz of Calallen, Texas, Lydia (Joe) Touchet of Brownsville, Diana (Henry) Rivera of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Delia Perez of Edinburg, Rick Gamez of San Antonio, Texas; maternal uncle, Joe Victor (Cris) Perez of Elsa; and 16 cousins.
Special thanks to family and friends, Dr. Raul Barreda, Dr. Mark Lieser, Dr. Irfan Agha, Dr. Leonard Garcia, nurses, and staff at McAllen Medical Center, Brent Cavazos, Sofia Nichols, Victor Morales, ECISD Superintendent Gilbert Garza Jr., ECISD School Board, San Carlos Elementary, ECISD Staff, Edinburg North High School staff and students.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, August 30, 2007, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be, David Silva, Bert Diaz, Joe Touchet, Henry Rivera, Danny Salas and Rick Gamez. Honorary pallbearers will be, Edinburg North High School Junior Varsity Cheerleaders.

Cassie is now a special cheerleader Angel in Heaven.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
