Elvia Escobedo

1947 - 2021

Rio Grande City - Elvia was born September 10, 1947, and passed on to her eternal rest on September 21, 2021, in her home. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.

Elvia was born in Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Elvia graduated from Rio Grande City High School in 1966 and went on to become a licensed cosmetologist. She was the owner of Elvia's Beauty Shop for 40 years. She was a trailblazer in hairstyling. She was known for her work ethic, and the pride she took in making everyone look beautiful. Elvia was involved in various church groups throughout her life. She loved to travel, try new food, and spend time with her family.

Elvia is survived by her children, Minerva (Bernardo) Reyna and Alberto (Nora) Escobedo; her grandchildren Daniela (David) Canseco, Jessenia and Bernardo Reyna, Joe Albert and Norissa Escobedo; one great-grandchild David Daniel Canseco. She is also survived by her sisters Minerva (Angel) Herrera and Alma (Abel) Luna, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Jose C. Escobedo. Her parents Jose Chavarria and Zoila Chavarria Navarro, and her brother Jose Luis Chavarria.

The visitation service will be on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm, the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. The visitation service will also be on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 8:00 am - 9:30 am and the funeral mass will be at 10:00 am at San Pablo La Puerta Church in Rio Grande City, TX. Funeral Services are under the direction of Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, TX.
