Eva Soza Herndon

1945 - 2023

Mission, Texas - Eva Soza Herndon, 78, died Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas, following a long battle with illness.

She is survived by her children Christopher Dale Herndon of McAllen Texas and James Elliott Herndon of San Antonio Texas; her granddaughter Sienna Christine Herndon of McAllen Texas; her brother Rene Soza of Mission Texas; her sister Elva Soza Bernal of McAllen Texas and many close friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dale Thomas Herndon of McAllen Texas; her mother Maria Lina Sosa of San Juan Texas; father Trinidad Sosa of Pharr Texas; sister Elia Soza Rodriguez of Dallas Texas and brother Reynaldo Soza of Pharr Texas.

Eva was born on March 14, 1945, in Pharr, Texas to Trinidad Sosa and Maria Lina Sosa. She married Dale Thomas Herndon in 1977 and welcomed her first child Christopher Dale Herndon in 1979 followed by her second child James Elliott Herndon in 1984.

Eva was a selfless individual who loved her family and friends and made sure they knew they were loved no matter what she might have been going through herself. She will be deeply missed but we take solace in knowing she is now peacefully resting.

A visitation is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm on Sunday April 2nd, 2023, followed with a eulogy at 7:00pm at Brown Family Funeral Home (701 East Expressway 83 Mission, Texas 78752). The funeral will take place on Monday April 3rd beginning at 2:00pm at the funeral home followed by the burial at 3:00pm at San Jose Cemetery in Mission Texas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Eva's life. The family would like to thank all the Staff at Village Care Nursing and Rehab in McAllen for the love she received throughout the years and well as all the great friends she made there.
