Gerardo Flores Obituary
EDINBURG - Gerardo "Jerry" Flores, 42, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Edinburg Children's Hospital in Edinburg. He was born on December 27, 1966 in Edinburg, Texas to Daniel Flores and Oralia Rios.
Jerry is survived by his sons; Mark (Idalia) Flores and James Daniel Flores, daughter; Melissa Michelle (Alejandro) Bautista, brothers; Tomas Daniel Flores, Aureliano "Al" (Mary Ellen) Flores, Domingo (Letty) Flores, Juan Jose Flores, Martin (Thelma) Flores; sister; Enriqueta Flores Garcia, grandchildren; Brandyn Taylor Rodriguez, Gerardo "Jerry" Saenz, Maythe Vega, and Raquel Paulina Perez.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and sister; San Juanita Gomez.
Through his time with his family, he always seemed to be a character, always trying to make someone laugh. Jerry was a loving father, great brother and a friend to anyone that needed one. Jerry was the only one who could be who he was and be able to accomplish the things that he achieved. In 1985, Jerry joined the United States Army, which led him to start towards a career in Law Enforcement. He worked with the E.C.I.S.D. Police from 1991 - 1998 as a security officer. He worked himself up from a Peace Officer to later being promoted to Lieutenant of Special Services and then began working for the Sherriff Department from 1998 - 2004. Most recently he was working with the Edinburg Housing Authority as a security officer. He will by deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Anthony Flores, James Daniel Flores, Juan Jose Flores, Martin Vivian Flores, Bryan Flores, and Richard Stephen Flores. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandyn Taylor Rodriguez, Domingo Flores, Al Flores, Tom Flores, David Martinez, Alex Bautista.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Christian mass will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.

"We are stricken with immense grief at the loss of Jerry. We pray to God Almighty for his soul, and we express our condolence and prayers to his family. Let the Almighty Lord send his heavenly angels and comfort the them. The loss is so great for us, but let us abide to the great purpose God has destined for himin the heavenly garden." We knew Jerry through work and family. My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Jerry at ENHS, and through our job we also met his family. We spent many good times with Jerry and his family, and though we had grown apart, we will miss him.

We enjoyed many a times spending time with Jerry, he was a great dictator when it came to BBQ's and outside cooking, he was good at it and always went the extra mile to help clean up and make life a little eaiser for some of us.
