Joel Casas Obituary

Harlingen - With a heart full of devotion to his faith and a melody ever-present in his step, Joel A. Casas, at the age of 50, concluded his vibrant journey on earth on December, 2, 2023. As the youngest member and the cherished baby of his family, Joel's zest for life and dedication to his loved ones marked the chapters of his beautiful, albeit too brief, story.

Born on July 12, 1973, Joel's warmth and passion for teaching touched innumerable lives during his 24-year tenure at PSJA ISD. Even as illness cast a shadow upon his final days, his spirit remained undimmed, a beacon of the faith that so profoundly shaped his existence. Joel's relationship with God was the cornerstone of his life; he found solace and joy in prayer and worshipped with a fervor that was both profound and infectious. His tech-savvy nature meant he was always on the cutting edge, with a particular enthusiasm for the latest phones and gadgets that kept him connected to the broader world and, most importantly, to his beloved children. His artistry manifested through his accordion, the strum of his guitar, and the heartfelt timber of his voice. Despite his many hobbies and passions, Joel's commitment to family was paramount. Never missing an opportunity to send a loving "goodnight" or "good morning" text, his children knew without a doubt that they were his world. Joel is lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the plethora of students whose lives he enriched throughout the years. His best friends, Calbert Gracia and Juan Crosby, remain the custodians of countless memories filled with laughter, friendship, and shared dreams. The void left by Joel's departure will be felt deeply, but his legacy is one of love, strength in faith, and the enduring power of music.

Survived by his mom, Clarita Barrera Casas; three children, Joel Patrick Casas, Isaiah Zaid Casas, Jade Alexandria Casas; four siblings, Marilyn (Carlos) De Luna, Sandra (Bob) Garcia, Rosie (Carlos) Perez, Melquiades Casas Jr.; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joel is preceded in death by his dad, Melquiades Casas; his brother, Manuel Casas; his grandparents, Maria Del Rosario (Chala) Barrera, Aurelio Barrera, Manuel Casas Garza, Trinidad Casas Elizondo; his aunts, Gertrudis Barrera Tenerias and Abelina Barrera.

Entrusted with the solemn duty of carrying the casket during the funeral services, the pallbearers will be:

Joel Patrick (JP) Casas, Isaiah Zaid Casas, Jonathan Carlos De Luna, Christopher Jared De Luna, Zachary Charles Perez, and Roberto Luis (Bobby) Garcia, Jr.

A viewing will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, from 6pm to 10pm with a rosary service at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley. Services will continue, Saturday, December 9, 2023 with a mass service at 10am with a burial to follow at 11am at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy and condolences to my dear loving ,sister -in-law Clara Casas a very wonderful, caring , loving mother . She unconditionally took care and loved her son very much , Joel also loved his mother so much . My dear nephew Joel Casas had a heart of gold that was, undoubtedly, a testament of his mother´s love and care for him. He also dearly loved his children tremendously. Joel had the most extraordinary soul. He was a blessing in all of our lives, and words cannot describe how greatly we will miss him. He had the most vibrant spirit and will be missed by all of us forever. "One of a kind man" My dear nephew´s kind heart touch so many lives that cross his path. I feel so blessed and honored to have been his aunt. When we came to Harlingen to visited him at the hospital, he welcomed us and was so happy to see us .I felt so happy, cause he was about to eat said Tia can you please pray for me before I eat? After I was done, he said Tia and Fabian, I appreciate your visit very much , and grabbed my son´s hand told us that he loved us.,we told him we also loved him very much. This was our last time we saw him, I will cherish this memory of my dear nephew until the day I die. Joel Casas my so kind nephew will be remembered and missed by many , many friends and his entire family.

I have known "Joelito" for many years, at least 35 or so since we were small. My grandma used to live across from him and his family. I don't remember much from childhood but he grew to be a very remarkable man. He was very polite, funny and there's just no way you can not like him. One of the best guys around. He will be missed. May he rest in peace and my sincerest condolences to his mother and all his family. May God give you the strength to overcome this huge loss.

When I think about my handsome loving cousin Joel my eyes fill with tears and my heart fells so heavy. Out family has lost many and no death is the same. When it comes to you not being here on earth amongst us seems darker and your light taken makes it colder. I will miss you very much until we meet again cousin. Fly high
Isaiah 57:1-2 NLT
Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die.
