Josefina L. Flores

1923 - 2022

Mission - Josefina Leal Flores joined loved ones in heaven on January 3rd, 2022 at the age of 98. Fina, as she was known, was born in La hacienda del Nopalito on April 19th 1923 to Francisco Leal and Gregoria Galindo. Her real birthday is February 19th, 1923. But due to her family living on the farm, Fina's birthday was registered and documented in April. So Naturally, She had two birthdays. She made her home in Cadereyta Jimenez N.L. Mexico where she learned how to become a talented seamstress providing gowns for las reinas del Club de Leones, as well as providing instruction to others who wanted to learn the trade. When it came to Wedding dresses, Fina was the number one choice to create your one of a kind dress of your dreams. In April of 1964, while visiting Mission, Texas, she met the love of her life, Alfredo Pedro Flores. After a short courtship and at the age of 41, Fina married Alfredo on August 16, 1964. Fina helped raise and is survived by four strong, beautiful women: her niece Delia Leal Tamez, niece Maricela Leal Flores, daughter Josie Flores Vielma, and granddaughter Victoria Jocelyn Vielma. She is also survived by her son in law, David Vielma. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Fina's neighbor Trino, her caregiver Margarita Ortiz, Angelitos Primary Home Care, Mission Valley Nursing and Transitional Care, and Gracia Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission followed by a burial service at 12:00 PM at San Jose Cemetery in Mission.
