PAULA GUERRERO
PHARR - Paula Guerrero, age 90, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Retama Manor Nursing Home in McAllen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donaciano & Clotilde Guerrero; four sisters and three brothers.
Paula was a native and lifelong resident of Pharr. She was also a lifelong active member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church where she participated in there choir.
She is survived by her sister, Petra (Leon ) Gauna of Pharr; a brother, Gonzalo Guerrero of Pharr; her sister-in-law, Rebecca (Andres) Guerrero of Pharr and numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral mass will be celebrated today, Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Skinner-Silva Funeral Home of Pharr.

EDCOUCH, TX - Leonzo Guerra, 86, our beloved father, patriarch of the Guerra family entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family at his bedside. He was born August 8, 1924 in McAllen, TX to Serapio & Manuela Maldonado Guerra. At a very young age, his parents moved to Edinburg, TX where he started his working career shining shoes for a nickel at the Hidalgo County Courthouse at which point he started taking numerous odd jobs, such as pumping gas at a local gas station. A few years later, his family moved to Edcouch, TX. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces where he served in W.W.II and then he met the love of his life, Olivia Reyes whom he married and had 6 loving children. After returning from the service, he took off as an entrepreneur opening a Dry Cleaners, then started Guerra's Trucking Co., followed as a farm labor contractor in Florida, New Mexico & California where he had much success with Meyer's Tomatoes in King City, CA. In the late 1960's he opened L & O Furniture in Weslaco, TX located at the corner of 4th & Missouri St. Several years later, he opened L & O Lumber which led him to the construction of homes throughout the Rio Grande Valley. In 1983, he started the construction of Guerra Funeral Home in Weslaco, TX which opened in February of 1984. Nine years later in 1993 he opened a 2nd location in Elsa, TX. In 1999, a 3rd location was opened in Brownsville, TX. Leonzo was a business minded person always searching for new avenues to invest in.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 55 years of marriage, Olivia R. Guerra, 2 brothers, Roberto Guerra & Gustavo Guerra & a grandson, Agustin Martinez III.
He is survived by 3 sons, Leon Guerra Jr.(Alicia) of Elsa, TX, George Guerra (Yolanda) of Weslaco, TX and Roland Guerra of Edcouch, TX; 3 daughters, Roselind Jean Guerra of McAllen, TX, Lillian Kay Guerra of Brownsville, TX and Sandra Mae Guerra of Edcouch, TX; 5 sisters, Eustolia Gonzalez of Schertz, TX, Angelica Sarabia, and Elfida Jasso both of Houston, TX, Mary Alice Leal of Weslaco, TX and Olga Guerra of Rosenberg, TX; sister-in-law, Maria Alicia R. Ibarra of Elsa, TX; also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of the Angels in Elsa, TX with a rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa, TX. Celebrant will be Rev. Ernesto Magallanes and Rev. Ruben Delgado. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, TX. Military graveside services will be under the auspice of VFW Post #7473. Pallbearers will be Agustin Martinez IV, Aaron Anthony Cellum, George Guerra Jr., Gordon Bryan Cellum, Eric Guerra & Christopher Warren Cellum. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Amador, Wayne Tite, Randall Leggett, William Leggett, Benito Lopes IV, Andrew Joseph Ochoa, Dusty Reynaldo Torres, Lucas Craig Guerra, Coby Torres, Agustin Martinez V, Jacob Diego Guerra, Deacon Cash Guerra, Ethan Vincent Gonzaba. A very special thanks to his right hand man, his grandson, Christopher (Chris) Cellum, Dr. Miguel Aleman, Dr. Christian F. Maluf, Dr. Ricardo G. Del Villar, Dr. Victor Castro, D'Oro Home Health Services, Miracle Medical Equipment and for everyone's prayers.
