We were Richard's neighbors on Juarez St., Pharr. As a kid, (9 yrs younger) we saw him as our athletic leader. A person to respect and look up to.

Several decades later I had the privilege of working with him as a U.S. Customs Officers.

My sincere condolences to the Cortez family. May Richard be resting in well deserved peace.

Enjoy another great God blessed day.

Sincerely,
Rolando M. Cano

"Queenie" and Diana, I am at a loss for words to express this sad feeling I have in my heart. I prayed for Rick every night asking Our Lord for a Miracle..but, God had other plans for him. Now that Rick is finally resting, may he R.I.Paradise. Rick, I enjoyed knowing you for so many years; and, it was an honor playing high school baseball with you. We were a good double play combination, weren't we? You made me look good! You were Major League material like no other in the Valley; it's a pity you didn't go for it. You had other plans and you were good at being a US Immigration Officer. Thank you for keeping in touch with my brother, Mario, and going to the "maquinitas" together. And thank you for remaining my friend for so many years. See ya soon.
