He was teacher/principal to several generations of students at Premont ISD. He always took his profession seriously but still made school a fun place.

Many wonderful things have been said about Terry, and I could continue his praises, but I think above all he served others on his Catholic path.

Terry always had a good sense of humor, but he was also a deep thinker. I got to know him during my elementary school days at Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS) School. Among other things, he would help train those of us that served as Altar Boys for assisting at the mass, and especially the "big" masses or other Catholic celebrations (e.g., Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter and Christmas Midnight Masses). We would generally show up at the church on a Saturday morning, and Terry would help in assigning our roles (e.g., cross bearers, torch bearers, incense bearer, acolytes, servers, etc.), and then assist in a "run-through" of the service, telling us where to stand, when to move, where and when to sit, etc. I always liked being a "torch bearer" but would be especially proud if he gave me some small additional task, like holding the text for Monsignor Ralph or the Bishop's staff. Terry was also good friends with Coach Ponce (our basketball coach at OLS), so Terry would show up from time to time at one of our basketball practices at OLS or be the referee for some of our games. When I grew older and left McAllen, I saw him infrequently, only when I returned to the Valley to visit my parents. Terry always made it a point to come up and speak with me whenever I went to church at OLS. Terry was special. You could tell that he cared about people and his community. His obituary says that he liked room temperature Dr. Peppers and a good Hershey's chocolate. I´ll make a point of treating myself later today to both of those tasty treats in his honor. Thank you, Terry, for being a friend and for all you did for our parish and our community. I know you are now resting in eternal peace for having been such a good and faithful servant to our God.

I remember your mother Pauline so well and how she helped me to make my confirmation at Our Lady of Sorrows almost sixty years ago. And I remember what a kind neighbor you were to my parents and to everyone in our community. You're with the angels now. And you will be so missed. Rest in peace, old friend.
