Gone too soon. One story that stands out to me is one night when Kathy had the Black Bonnieview (we were around 16) We got stuck and had to call Mr. Olson to come and get us. Which he did, we thought for sure that was the end of our excursion. He merely pulled us out and said carry on.

Just look at all his children and Grandchildren that are here because of him. A great legacy to carry on.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Olson family. Often John would not hesitate to stop at my house, whether on his tractor, or in his truck, to tell me how nice my yard looked. You could tell he was very proud of his subdivision. Rest in peace John.

Kay and Family, So shocked and sorry to hear of your loss of John. Lots of memories of John when we were in the Hoag school in the 40's. Who could forget John, he provided us kids with lots of entertainment. I can still see the teacher shaking him up --and him laughing his head off! He is to be admired as a successful,self-made man. Deepest sympathy from Bill and me.

This time in our lives right now makes me very distraught, all because because John left us too soon.

With all of the success Mr. Olson achieved in his life, he was one of the most down to earth people you could ever meet.

When you reach an age when your parents don't know anything, you listened to John. When you finally reach a point in your life when you finally figured it out that your parents were right, you still listened to John.

This man (regardless of what point in my life) taught me about the meaning of hard work does indeed yield great results. It took a long time for his advice to sink in, but it did. Simply put, John Olson is one of those people who didn't give up on me.

Kay and family, he was one of a kind. Thank you for sharing someone like John to be a part of our lives. His accomplishments will always be remembered; his character will never, ever be forgotten.

When my husband and I moved to Mt. Pleasant 9 years ago, John was one of the first people to greet us and welcome us to the Mineral Springs Development. He was always so friendly and had such a positive attitude. I would see him driving through the neighborhood on his tractor and he would either wave or stop by for a chat. He seemed like a very gentle soul and we will miss seeing him working throughout the development. We will hold fond memories of John and wish to send our deepest sympathy to the Olson family.

Through this awful sadness, I can't stop thinking about how blessed we are to be a part of such a wonderful family! Tears continue to stream down my face as I read the accolades of my Uncle John, a man who I too hold more memories than I can count. He taught much to many people without even knowing he was doing so. And it always made me laugh when he'd try to act like a 'tough guy' when I knew what a softee he really was:) I loved him more than he'll ever know and I already miss him terribly. Peaceful thoughts and prayers to all who loved and knew him.

March 27, 2012

John Olson was not only a friend of our families but I considered him a close friend as well. Back when I worked for John in the late '70's John had invited me to a retreading seminar in Louisville,Kentucky and he had borrowed Kay's car to take us to the airport. Along the way I decided to tease John about being too tight to buy Kay a new car, after all it had over 100,000 miles on it. John replied "Jimmy there's nothing wrong with this car, why should I get her a new one", when all of the sudden the u joint gave out and we had to coast to the side of the road. We had to take turns standing in front of each other hitch hiking try to get a ride to the airport. Wouldn't you know it some kid with long hair and a souped up Camaro picked us up and gave us a ride. I was praying John wouldn't tease the kid about his long hair, because believe me I knew John's feelings about long hair. I will miss John dearly.
