My name is Fred Bertsch and I served on board the USS Rigel AF58 with Tom. I was on board from 4/73 to 7/75. I was from Farmington Hills, MI., but moved up to Mt Pleasant in 11/76 and worked for M&M Chevrolet until `79 when I quit and enrolled at CMU. I didn´t know Tom lived there and ran into each one day. We met bunch more times after that. In fact, he bought my old Type III green VW for $200 bucks! We later moved back downstate in `82. Tom was a great shipmate. And later it was great to see him again.
