Robert H. King Sr., 82, of Mineral Bluff, Georgia, passed away, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Blue Ridge Medical Center in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Robert was born April 17, 1941, in Rebecca, Georgia, to the late John W., and Mary Alice King.
Robert was preceded in death by His parents, John W., and Mary Alice King; sisters, Betty Horne and Peggy Shivers; brothers, John Wallace King, William King, Delma King, Tom King, and Jack King.
He is survived by his loving wife Jonnie Sue King; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby (Barbara) King; grandchildren and their spouses, Stanley (Lauren) King, Brandon (Brenda) King, Dawson (Jordan) King; great-grandchildren, Levi King and Lucas King; sister and brother-in-law Nan (James) Snow; brother and sister-in-law J.C. (Sandra) King.
Robert, or known to family and friends as Bob, started working for Crown Cork & Seal in Atlanta, Georgia and continued his career for over 25 years working in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and retiring as Plant Manager in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. After his early retirement from Crown Cork & Seal, he had the opportunity to drive a bus for the Fannin County School System for over 15 years.
He was a Past Master of Sweetgum Lodge #542, as well as a Shriner. For many years, he contributed his time and talents working at the Shrine Circus as well as serving as president of the Shriners Alkuwa Unit. Just before his death, he was placed on the Wall of Fame, in the Yaarab Shrine Temple, for his contributions in helping to support the
Shriners Children's Hospitals. He enjoyed riding in the Shriners parade. He even made a horseless carriage that he would drive in the parades.
Robert loved his family and every opportunity he got to be with them. He was a man with many talents. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, farming, raising cattle, playing poker, and working with his hands. He loved driving through the county and was surprised to see all of the changes that have taken place since moving back to Fannin County in 1986. At the time of his death, he was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Sunday, 11th of February, 2024, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.. Bob was cremated and will be laid to rest in the family burial plot in Rebecca, Georgia at a later date.
