Mike Bye Obituary

Mike Bye

June 16, 1950 - July 14, 2024

Olympia, Washington - Mike Bye passed away July 14, 2024, in Olympia, Washington, surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 16, 1950, in Fargo, North Dakota. He moved to Washington from Minnesota in 1978, lived in Tacoma and, for the last 30 years, resided in Tenino, where he was a member of the Lions Club the last several years.

Mike graduated high school in Gackle, North Dakota, and earned a Bachelor of Science from City University in Tacoma, Washington. He married Suzanne Andrews on June 14, 1986, in Puyallup, Washington. Professionally, he worked in telecommunications for Pacific Northwest Bell, US West, Qwest and Lumen, retiring in March 2008.

Mike was loving and giving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was quiet and laid back. He would do anything for anybody; he couldn't say "No." He enjoyed camping with friends, playing cribbage with family, spoiling his grandkids, volunteering for service projects with the Lions, and meeting with friends for their monthly poker game. He also learned to put up with cats.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne "Sue" Bye; daughter, Alexanne "Alley" Bye; grandchildren, Trey, Lotus, Archie, and Star; brother, Joel "Skip" Bye and his wife, Lori of Fargo, North Dakota; and sister, Cindy Vik and her husband, Ken of Hettinger, North Dakota. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Mitch Bye.

A celebration of life is planned for Friday, August 23, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church, 15000 Old Highway 99 SE, Tenino, WA 98589.
