Janet Hawthorne Obituary
Born in Huntington, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Richard and Irene (Kintner) Knarr.
Janet was the loving wife of David L. Hawthorne. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage in June.
Janet was a graduate of South Whitley High School, and later received her bachelor's in education from Manchester University. After graduating from Manchester University, she worked for Richmond and Westville Indiana Public Schools. In 1970, Janet and David moved to Elizabethtown, Pa., and most recently retired as a elementary school teacher in both public and private school settings.
Along with her husband she is survived by her sons, Nathan David Hawthorne, of Lancaster, Pa., and Justin Derek (Nichole Hipple) Hawthorne, of Elizabethtown, Pa.; her three grandsons, Hunter Vonn Hawthorne, James Daniel Hawthorne and Evan Michael Burns; her siblings, John (Bea Royer) Knarr, Eva (Dallas) Caudill and Cheryl (Paul) Thomas, all of Indiana, Elaine (Phil) Weinert, of Pennsylvania, Joyce (Bill) Street, of Washington and Carol (Ed) Gebert, of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Janet's life will be held at West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 W. Greentree Rd., Elizabethtown, Pa. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at noon. Janet's family will receive friends at West Green Tree COB Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. and immediately following the service on Saturday.
In leu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tiny Timbers Preschool, c/o West Green Tree COB or to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, Pa., 17604-4125 would be deeply appreciated by the Hawthorne family.

I was so shocked to hear about Janet passing away. I have known her all my life and she was a sweet and caring person. Grew up with her just a road away. She graduated with my sister, Judy, who passed away 3 year ago. I graduated with Elaine and knew Eva just as well. Actually, I knew all her sisters and brother John.
