GRAND TOWER - Billie R. Pritchett, 63, passed away at 7:23 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

She was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Murphysboro to Frances and William Pelate of Grand Tower.

Billie is survived by her daughters, Tracey Kissel and husband, Don, of Elkhart, Ind., and Billie Rae Phillips and husband, Jeffrey, of Du Quoin; son, Paul William Rushing of Grand Tower; six very much loved grandchildren, Jodie Rae Wright and husband, Aaron, of Du Quoin, Johnathon Reiman of Campbell Hill, Kellie Reiman of Carbondale, Lacey "Lacey-bug" Elizabeth Rushing of De Soto, Olivia "Miss Beautiful" Rose Phillips and Isabella "Miss Precious" Raye Phillips of DuQuoin; three great-grandchildren she so loved, Katherine "Katie" Jo Smith, Lucas Wright and Jacob Wright; her beloved friend and companion for more than 20 years, Dennis Gass of Murphysboro; her special friend, Patricia "Puddin" Faulkinberry who she loved like a daughter of her own; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. In addition to the family that loved her so, she leaves behind her companion Benjamin, a miniature Yorkie that has never left her side.

Billie was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Gary Sparks of Pana; and infant son, Johnthon.

Through her years, Billie was a home maker and later worked as a laborer, coal miner, and entrepreneur. She was always there to help a friend in need and tried her best to take care of those she loved. Billie was very crafty and could make, create or paint practically anything. Her friends and family loved and enjoyed the handcrafted items she made for them such as blankets and beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings. She will be deeply missed by those who especially knew her best.
