David Hurley Obituary
He was born at 5:25 a.m. June 10, 1947, in Crainville, the son of Ernest Wayne Hurley and Wilma Marie Bennett-Hurley.
He was a graduate of Johnston City High School class of 1965, where he was known by everyone as "HOOKS."
At the age of 20 he met the love of his life Shelia Lee Dillingham. They were married May 4, 1981.
David and Shelia owned Hurley's Showbar since 1981.
He enjoyed in his spare time going to the campground to ride his horses, sitting around with his guitar playing music and playing the songs he wrote.
He was a man of many talents. He was a carpenter, pilot, horseshoer/blacksmith, and played in various bands over the years.
If he was a person's friend he or she had a friend for life. He would give a person the shirt off his back if asked to. If one ever wanted the truth all a person had to do is ask and he wouldn't have given anything but that.
Survivors include wife, Shelia, of Corinth; daughter, Tammy Marie (Cravens) Kell and husband, Scott of Carterville; daughter, Jessi Marie Hurley of Johnston City; grandsons, Chad Davis and fiancée Lauren of Saint Louis, and Samuel Davis and wife, Veronica, of Carterville; granddaughter, Halle Marie Hurley, 3 years old of Johnston City; father, Wayne Hurley of Corinth; sisters, Dorothy Pelton, Fla., Randi Price and husband, Larry, of Pittsburg; nephew, Kip Hendrickson and wife, Traci, in Florida; and niece, Julie Johnson of Johnston City.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Hurley and uncle, Charles "Boob" Bennett.
His family deeply appreciates the friendships and caring support of those he knew and loved.
Upon his wishes there will be no services.
A memorial and benefit will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in Hurleys Showbar Johnston City.
Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Hard to believe how close you can get to someone in a short amount of time, but Dave made it easy he was a hell of a friend to me,I could sit and watch him pick that guitar and listen to him sing all night,one thing about Dave is he would always tell ya straight how it was wheather if you liked it or not, You will always be missed and never forgotten, R.I.P my friend
