LaDell Alvey Obituary

LaDell K. Alvey

Kanab, Utah

LaDell Ken Alvey, 82, passed away on January 14, 2017 in St. George, Utah. He was born November 23, 1934 in Lyman, Utah to Forest Burns and Ruth Allen Alvey. Soon after, his family moved to Escalante, Utah where he was a good athlete in high school. After serving two years in the United States Army, he returned and worked at the Alvey family sawmill. It didn't take long before he met the love of his life, Karen Louise Jepsen. They moved to Kanab, Utah where he worked at Garkane Power for over twenty years. Upon retirement, he began his own power line construction business. He was meticulous with his work and loved what he did. He had many hobbies and interests including horse racing, fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time in his yard. Many people will remember his kindness and generosity, but he will be remembered most for his witty sense of humor. LaDell and Karen were married for 58 wonderful years and raised three children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Forest Burns and Ruth Allen Alvey , and by son Michael Ken Alvey. He is survived by his wife Karen Alvey of Kanab, Utah, daughter Julie Anne Sullivan (Dr. Gary Sullivan) of Statesboro, Georgia, son Brent Alvey (Linda Alvey) of Kanab, Utah, brother Freland Alvey (Phyllis Alvey) of Escalante, Utah, sister Rolain Alvey of Escalante, Utah, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Kanab South Chapel, 604 So. Highway 89A .
