Jay Morrison Obituary

Jay Morrison

Farmland - Jay Morrison, 61, of Farmland, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jay was born April 18, 1956 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Lewis and Mary Jane (Weems) Morrison. He graduated from Monroe Central High School in 1974 and married Deb Yates on May 29, 1976. Jay and Deb had previously owned J&D Trucking and Excavating and he currently worked for Culy Contracting. Jay loved to work and was a hard worker. Jay enjoyed dirt bikes and was a motocross racer in his earlier years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin in Switzerland County, Indiana. Jay's family was his pride and joy and nothing was dearer to him than his time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of nearly 42 years, Deb Morrison; three children, Josh Morrison (Brittany Pryor), Jeremy Morrison (wife Jessica), and Jessie Morrison; seven grandchildren, Jayce Morrison, Faith Pryor, Allie, Dominick, and Olivia Morrison, Mason Jones, and Bryan and Brance Morrison; three sisters, Vickie Clevenger (husband Alan), Judy Huddleston, and Becky Thornburg (husband Lew); and several dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mary Jane Morrison; brother, James "Jimmy" Morrison; sister, Diane Stine; and his mother and father-in-law, Larry and Ginny Yates.

Jay will be cremated and his ashes scattered on his property in Switzerland County. Jay's family will have a reception in his memory at the Morrison home in Farmland at a later date.

Jay's family would like to thank the 5th floor oncology nurses, cancer center nurses, hospice nurses, and quad med nurses for their compassionate care they provided to Jay.

I met Jay 50 years ago when we rode the same school bus to MC. He was as honest and straight forward as they come. I always thought of him as a good guy and a friend.
