Robert Lewis Obituary

Robert M. (Bob) Lewis, 88

MUNCIE - Robert M. "Bob" Lewis, 88, passed away Monday afternoon, July 13, 2015 at The Waters of Muncie from Alzheimer's that had advanced to the point that his body shut down.

He was born March 18, 1927 in Muncie, the son of Bert and Ida (Miller) Lewis. Robert graduated from Muncie Central High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Lewis owned and operated Lewis Pest Control for more than fifty years prior to his retirement in 2000. While he was in the Pest Control business, he was very involved with the Indiana Pest Control Association and served as president of the association several times.

Bob always had an interest in cars and over the last several years and owned Auto Restorations. He built a kit to install a 5-speed transmission into a Ford Model-A and sold them all over the world. He drove in the Interstate Battery Great Race several years with a 1936 Buick Roadmaster that he restored. He was a member of the Muncie Junto Club and the Central Indiana Old Car Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Kris Lewis, Muncie; his son, Keith Lewis (wife, Jodi), Anderson; and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Cook of Muncie and Beverly Cook of Xenia, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary E. Lewis on October 27, 2007.

Sweet cousin Kris,
Johnette happened to find this online and shared with us. We have moved again, so you may not have been able to contact us. We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle Bob will be missed by all. We didn't get to see you all very often, but greatly enjoyed being with all of you when we could. Rick felt very close to your dad. Please contact us at my email [email protected] so we can talk.
Love you,
Marlene, Rick and Ryann Lewis

Kris,
I will not be able to attend your father's viewing or funeral. Instead I will be donating money to ARF in his memory. He was a good neighbor and friend.

Kris, Sorry for your loss. I've missed you both coming to see us. He is at peace now and enjoying being with your mom. Probably fixing all those model-A's up there. He will be missed. All your friends at Alro Steel

To Kris,

A couple of years ago I delivered some parts to Bob from O'Reilly Auto Parts. You and he were so gracious to give me a tour of your shop and explained to me how the transmission worked that you sold to old car collectors. I think of that visit often and kept thinking I would stop by again "someday." Too many times I have missed that "someday" and feel a real loss. I know you and your dad were close, Kris. I am so sorry for your loss.
