Connie Weaks Obituary
August 19, 1935 - April 26, 2024
Mebane, North Carolina - Connie Weaks, née Constance Sue Ratledge, age 88, passed away on April 26, 2024 at home surrounded by family.
Connie was born on August 19, 1935 to George and Eva Ratledge in Woodleaf, NC. After graduating from Woodleaf High School, she went on to study English at Catawba College. After graduation, she began a teaching career that lasted 17 years. In 1955, she met Chester Arthur Weaks Jr of Blair SC, and they wed in 1956. Connie and Chester had two children, James and Blake. After Connie and Chester's retirement to Surf City NC, Connie spent her time doing crafts, amazing cross-stitch work, Church work at Chapel by the Bay, and hosting her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah. She became known, affectionately, as Beach Nannie.
Connie is predeceased by her son Blake, sister Betty Godbey, half-brother Ward Ratledge, and half-sisters Aileen and Irma Ratledge. She is survived by her husband Chester, son James and wife Wendy, grandchild Ryan and wife Kirsten and their daughter Elena, grandchild Hannah, nieces Susan Thomas and Patricia Duff, nephew George Ratledge, niece Alesia Weaks, and son Blake's wife Julie.
A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington, NC by Rev. Rod Chaney with a private burial to follow. The family will receive friends from 1:15 - 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
