David Scarborough Obituary

David Edgar Scarborough III NORTH - David Edgar Scarborough III, loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle, age 66, died May 26, 2014, at the home of his younger sister. He was a graduate of North High School and Wofford College. He was a commodity broker, boat builder, writer, actor and best friend to Belle, his beloved dog. He was born January 4, 1948, the son of D.E. Scarborough, Jr. and Mary Gay O'Bannon Scarborough of North. He was the grandson of D.E. Scarborough, Sr. and Christabelle Livingston Scarborough of North, and Harry Lee O'Bannon, Sr. and Bessie P. O'Bannon of Barnwell. David is survived by two sisters, Lee Scarborough Hughes and husband Michael Hughes, Sr. of North, and Gay Scarborough Grimes and husband J.M. Grimes, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by two nieces, Erin O'Bannon Gleaton of Summerville, and Beth Grimes Velarde and husband Lt. Col. Bryan Velarde of Fayetteville, NC, and three nephews, Daniel Gleaton and wife Dana of Lexington, SC, Michael F. Hughes, Jr. of Falls Church, VA, and Martin Grimes of Astoria, NY. Also surviving are a great niece, Sarah Velarde, and two great nephews, James and Daniel Verlarde. David loved his family and was loved by his family. The family will receive friends at the home of Lee and Michael Hughes, 7721 Salley Road in North, on Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A private memorial service for the family will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, United Hospice staff, social worker, and others who provided care and comfort to David.

Lee, I am so sorry for your loss. When I saw David's obituary, I immediately thought of my brother Charlie. He and David could always find some "trouble" to get into....They are probably giving St. Peter "a fit"...maybe even swinging on the Pearly Gates of Heaven. It does bring a smile to my face, though. God bless you and your family. RIP, David.
