Evaughn Leaphart Obituary

Evaughn Kennington Leaphart LEXINGTON - Evaughn Kennington Leaphart, 87, of Lexington, South Carolina, was taken into God's loving arms on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. She was born May 5, 1927 in Chesterfield County, SC and was a daughter of the late Thomas Carl and Nellie Gainey Kennington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Leaphart; their infant son, John Benjamin Leaphart; her brothers, Heyward Kennington, James Kennington, and Carl Kennington, Jr.; and her sisters, Jeanette Kennington, Lois Brock, Bleeker Brock, Louise Terry, and Grace Radkin. She is survived by her children, Ron (Eileen) Leaphart and Mary Alice Leaphart of Lexington; her grand-daughter, Meredith (Kevin) Beck and great-grand-daughter, Anna Beck, of Irmo, SC; sisters, Helen Miles of McBee, SC and Eloise Logan of North Augusta, SC; brother, C.H. (Sonny) Kennington of Hartsville, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Leaphart graduated from business school in Columbia and retired from AT&T, where she spent virtually her entire working career and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. The funeral service for Mrs. Leaphart will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3011 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. Family will receive friends at the church following the service. Memorials may be sent to the Building Fund at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. The family expresses appreciation to the loving care providers of Lexington Extended Care.
